Please join us on Thursday, February 6th for the PCMA Greater Philadelphia Chapter’s breakfast meeting, Duty of Care in Action: Protecting People and Events.

For those working in the business events industry, your role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and success of your gatherings is paramount. This interactive workshop delves into the concept of Duty of Care, equipping planners with strategies to mitigate risks, respond to crises, and create safe, inclusive, and seamless event experiences. Featuring expert panelists and a hands-on activity that reviews two common “crisis scenarios,” attendees will gain valuable insights into risk management, policies, and the tools available to support their Duty of Care responsibilities. Attendees will also be able to share their insights with the panelists for feedback.

Learning objectives:

  • Define Duty of Care and its critical role in meeting and event planning
  • Discuss what role meeting managers and event planners play in risk management, including how to develop a proper course of action
  • Explore policies, insurance, and governance that can help reduce risk of a crisis
  • Discuss resources that exist to support employees in the event of a crisis

This workshop blends expert advice, practical exercises, and meaningful dialogue to empower meeting planners with the knowledge and tools to prioritize safety and success in every event they organize.

Our speakers will be Mark Kelly and Matt Smyth, experts in the field from International SOS. Click here to learn more about Mark and Matt.

A Message from the Community Service Committee: Please help Philly House meet the basic needs of the hungry, homeless, and hurting in Philadelphia. As the city’s largest and longest-running shelter, they provide a safe, clean refuge off the streets along with deep, intentional engagement to see a long-term impact.  Philly House offers overnight emergency shelter for men, allowing guests to stay for 30 days at a time. Guests come for shelter and food, and also find a holistic, empowering refuge from the streets through deep, intentional care. The men who turn to Philly House looking for refuge often need items that we might take for granted. You can make a big difference by donating items at the February 6 PCMA PHL meeting, or purchasing items through their Amazon Wish List. The most needed items are new men’s boxers and t-shirts (large and x-large), toiletries, toothbrushes, hats, gloves, and scarves. Monetary donations are also accepted through their website.
